Kandy

Kandy is a large city in central Sri lanka, was the last capital of the ancient kings’ era of Sri Lanka.The city lies in the midst of hills in the Kandy plateau, which crosses area of tropical plantations, mainly tea .

It was declared a world heritage site and is the home of the Temple of the tooth Relic, called Sri Dalada Maligawa.

Kandy Perahara

Once a year, in July or august, the Esala Perahara journeys city streets in a wave of colour, beckoning devotees in their thousands from island wide as well as visitors, to witness a procession like nother.

The Kandy Perahara is the grandest of the country’s traditional festivals, organized by the Dalada Maligawa in honour of the Sacred Tooth Relic.
